Encouraging learners to care for the iPads

I have previously written about helping our younger learners care for their ipads at school and how this is something we can’t just assume they will do automatically.

I was recently chatting with some teachers who work with slightly older students and were looking for more complex ideas but focused on the same idea - encouraging learners to be deliberate in the way they think about using and caring for school owned iPads in particular.

We came up with the idea of creating an unplugged computational thinking activity - with the content focused on iPad care.

I used Canva to create the grids, and the whiteboard within Canva to create a digital option. There is a version that just has images, which can encourage some great discussions about what is actually happening, as well as a version that just uses text.

There are many different ways this activity could be done and a Pages reflection they could complete afterwards.

You can find all the ideas for implementing this here or download the attached PDF.

I love how you integrated coding and iPad management discussion! What a great way to have students reflect on how to treat and care for their devices appropriately.

What a great idea!

Unplugged Coding FTW! And, I love how you are integrating care and management of their device into the activity! 🌟
