Create a Monster-Spooky Tourism

Lesson Details: Students will use their knowledge of tourism regarding folklore (Mothman, Flatwoods Monster, etc.) to develop their own Monster. They will design, color, research the local area where their monster will exist, and develop an economic plan similar to other plans that have actually been created. We will use the creation of the Mothman Museum and some research on items sold related to monsters to increase tourism and economic impact in a community within West Virginia.

Goals/Objectives

Students will learn about the tourism industry, understand how it works, and use their knowledge to develop new tourism opportunities to improve the local economy.

Through their research, they will also learn about a local community in the state. This could be applied to many other content areas. #CabellCounty

Sounds like a fun project. I once did a project where the students created a monster in Keynote by combining shapes, and they had to write a story with it. We then published it in the Apple Bookstore, and parents loved it. Your project would take it a step further, and I can see the benefit to students in doing that.
