You can add audio and video recordings to your Keynote slides to enhance your storytelling and create presentations with more impact. Add depth to a photo slideshow with audio narration and sound effects, or document each stage of a lab experiment with slow-motion video clips.
Add a video. Click Media in the toolbar, then choose Photos or Videos and select a video clip from your Photos library. You can also drag a media file from your desktop to anywhere on a slide.
Adjust the volume. With the clip selected, click the Movie tab in the Format sidebar. Drag the Volume slider.
Trim the clip. Click the disclosure triangle next to Edit Movie, then drag the Trim sliders to set the start and end points for the video.
Loop the video. In the Repeat pop‑up menu, choose Loop or Loop Back and Forth.
Add audio to a slide. Click Media in the toolbar, then choose Music and select an audio track from your Music library.
Adjust the audio of the track. Trim, adjust the volume, and set repeat options in the Audio tab of the Format sidebar.
If you want audio and video clips to start playing automatically when presenting slides, deselect the “Start audio on click” (or “Start movie on click”) checkbox.
Create a mood for a photo slideshow by adding a music track to slides that feature images.
Introduce each topic in your presentations with a short, attention-grabbing inspirational video related to the subject.
In Keynote, you can also record audio directly onto a Keynote slide using the built‑in microphone on Mac. This makes it easy to add a narrative or an explanation to an image.
