Claire used skills from the Word Art chapter in the Everyone Can Create Drawing project guide to challenge her students to show their knowledge of plant and animal cells through drawing and voice recording.
Clare invited students to view plant and animal cells and photograph them through a microscope with iPad.
Students were provided with a Keynote template with a teacher example of a photograph of a cell and the teacher’s annotated drawing.
Students brought their photos into Tayasui Sketches and used this as a basis to create an annotated diagram of each cell. Then they replaced the teacher example in Keynote with their own annotated drawings.
Finally, they used the audio recording feature in Keynote to explain their understanding of a part of the cell.
By using iPad to photograph an image, students are able to zoom in, observe, and draw a cell in more detail than with the naked eye.
