Patrick created an activity to help students understand symmetry through the use of real-world objects, using the Camera and Measure apps on iPad.
Patrick challenged his class to head outside and photograph a selection of leaves they thought could be symmetrical.
Students then used Markup in Photos to mark the line of symmetry of each leaf.
Then they used the Measure app to measure the distance from the line of symmetry.
Patrick then had students collate their findings and explain how their measurements confirm how they identified symmetry in their environment.
Engaging students in creative activities on iPad has revitalized more traditional lessons like maths.
