Joshua wanted students to build a deeper understanding of decimals by producing their own “Mathumentary” video tutorial. Students used the Camera app, Keynote, and Clips to record their own maths lesson where they explain and solve an equation.
Students formed groups of four and were each allocated a different role: content creator, question writer, film maker/editor, and presenter.
Students worked together in their groups to choose a mathematical question and solve it using Keynote.

Next, students recorded the process of problem-solving using the Camera app, screen recordings, and audio recordings. Students then moved to Clips to edit their Mathumentary. Here, they added transitions and titles to create their final video.
I use screen recordings as a learning tool to empower students to capture new concepts and reflect on past learnings. Students quickly build understanding of how different concepts link together and fit within the bigger picture of their learning outcomes.
