Touch Instruments let you play and compose music with virtual instruments, like the keyboard, guitar, bass, strings, and more. Incorporating a variety of musical sounds into songs can help make them more expressive and meaningful.
Open the Smart Piano. In an existing project, tap Add Track button, swipe to Keyboard, then tap Smart Piano.
Play chords. Turn Autoplay to 1, then tap the C on the C chord strip. Try alternating between the C and G chords in a pattern that sounds good to you.
Record a Touch Instrument. Tap Record button and play the C and G pattern you practiced. Tap Play button when you’re finished recording.
Listen to your recording. Tap Play button. If you don’t like the results, tap Undo button to erase what you just recorded and try again.
Try a different keyboard sound. Tap the Grand Piano icon, then choose a new keyboard like Classic Rock Organ or Smooth Clav.
Play and record other Touch Instruments. Tap Tracks View button, then tap Add Track button and swipe to other instruments, such as guitar or world instruments.
Explore ways that a variety of playing techniques can set the mood of a story. For example, tap or strum a Touch Instrument with greater intensity to represent rising tension.
Play the chords to a favorite song using chord strips. Find sheet music on the web and use it to identify and play the chords.
Create custom chord strips using the Edit Chord settings. Remove unused chords to simplify playing.
