Collaboration is an essential skill in life and it’s a lesson that starts in the classroom. In this lesson, Panya had his students split into groups of five and role‑play as music professionals creating a piece of elevator music.
Once students were split into groups, each student assumed one of the following roles: drummer, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and producer. Then Panya provided them with sheet music in Keynote.
Students started by recording the dummer part in GarageBand on iPad. Learn about building and recording the backbone of a piece of music in Chapter 2 of the Everyone Can Create Music guide.
Each student took turns creating their own parts in GarageBand on iPad. Learn about adding chords and melody in Chapter 3 of the Everyone Can Create Music guide.
Next, all students sent their tracks to the producer over AirDrop. The producer then blended and balanced the different tracks to create the finished song. Learn about post‑production in Chapter 5 of the Everyone Can Create Music guide.
