Draw Your Graphics

Learn how to use the drawing tools in Keynote to draw the objects that you’ll use in your motion graphic.

Draw background elements.

Add static drawings in your background to make a scene.

Step 1

Tap Media .

Step 2

Tap Drawing.

Tip

If you’re using Apple Pencil, tap it on the slide to start drawing.

Step 3

Make sure the Fill tool is selected.

Step 4

Tap the colour picker.

Step 5

Making sure you’re on the grid tab, select white. Then tap outside the menu to close it.

Tip

To zoom out, pinch closed. To zoom in, pinch open.

Step 6

Draw one or two clouds in the sky.

Tip

Tap Undo if you make a mistake.

Tap Done.

Step 8

Tap Format .

Step 9

Tap Arrange.

Step 10

Tap Lock.

Draw objects to animate.

Draw waves and a swimming duck to add to your animation.

Tap Media .

Tap Drawing.

With the Fill tool still selected, tap the colour picker.

Choose a dark blue colour from the grid.

Step 5

Tap outside the menu to close it.

Step 6

In the bottom third of the scene, draw waves that extend well over the slide’s edges.

Step 7

With the Fill tool still selected, tap yellow.

Step 8

Draw a yellow circle anywhere in the background area to make a head for your duck.

Step 9

Draw a duck body under the circle and above the waves.

Tip

Use the Eraser tool to remove any parts that you don’t want to keep.

Use black to draw an eye.

Step 11

Choose orange to draw a beak.

Step 12

Choose a dark yellow to draw a wing.

Tip

Use the selection tool to outline drawings or parts of drawings if you need to separate, merge, move or resize them.

Tap Done.
