managed apple ID failing to sign in


Hi, we are trying to create apple IDs via our Apple Schools account and we are getting "iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server." when signing in. It allows us to get to the change password and register phone number for SMS verification but then fails. any help would be amazing

Hi ashsav,

Sorry you’re having this experience. A couple of questions to help us better help you.

1) Is this an instructor/staff/manager Managed Apple ID? Students are not asked to set up SMS verification so we want to rule this out.

2) Are you attempting to sign in with this Managed Apple ID for the first time via If so, try to set up this Managed Apple ID on iPad in Settings or Mac in System Settings.

Try on a device instead of and also try on a non school wifi (like personal hotspot) I have had first time login failures using school networks
