US High Schools that use XCODE

Question:

Hello everyone!

I have been using XCODE in my computer science 2 class for several years now and the students and I love it. The issue is my network administrators are starting to balk at the need for administrator rights on the machines. Is anyone else running into this issue? Is there anyway to overcome it? I know there are plenty of high schools out there using XCODE. I would like to hear from some of you.

Regards.

Hello,

While I'm not 100% sure of the environment in place for device management (and some of these steps will vary depending on what is in place) there is a really great article Armin Briegel wrote on behalf of jamf about Deploying Xcode on managed devices. It includes some steps for the getting the actual app on the devices AND, what I think may be a resource for your network folks, using it without admin rights.

https://www.jamf.com/blog/managed-xcode-deployment/

Some of those steps may need to be adjusted a bit for the environment, but it should have all the needed high-level steps which can be adjusted to your specific product.

I hope this helps out!

Randy
