It is important for us to build a relationship with our students, so that we know how to effectively help them. One of the main elements is knowing their learning styles and what works for them. By identifying their interests, passions for leaning and styles of learning it allows us, as educators, to provide challenging, creative and interesting activities that prepare students to be successful in current and future endeavours.

Understanding that not all learners are the same, therefore, success for each learner is different. As leaders, we can empower all learners by supporting them in achieving their goals, no matter what level they are starting at.

Lots of kōrero (discussions) in our roopu (group). The mutual outcome of our kōrero was that in order for us to empower all learners we first need to empower our educators so that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to prepare their learners for tomorrow.

We also discussed the challenge of bridging the technological gap that exists between educators and students due to a variety of factors.

Great discussion around our thinking from today so far… to me it just reinforces the concept around growing the passion in our teachers… we need them to be given licence to explore and built their creativity and innovation in order for them to start thinking more naturally around how elearning and tech tools can be used in the classroom.

Supporting students and staff through the learning pit is crucial for fostering resilience and embracing fragility. The power of celebrating the journey and learning from failure can be just as important as the end product. The ability to self-reflect, identify next learning and develop a learning pathway is important for developing future skills and fostering a love of learning and creative problem solving.
