Apple Classroom and Apple Schoolwork

We just recently discovered Apple Classroom and Apple Schoolwork. We downloaded Apple Classroom so our teachers could see what their students are on while on the iPad. When we first started using it, the teacher could see her class just fine. We then added Schoolwork to the mix and now all of her students say 'offline'. I have tried several things to no avail. Please help.

Thanks

Some things to try with coaxing Apple Classroom to work:

  1. Do a restart on the teacher’s iPad
  2. Make sure that the teacher device and all student iPads are updated the latest and greatest
  3. Sometimes it helps if students open the Settings app on their iPad – just opening the app will kickstart whatever wizardry is going on under the hood with Classroom

I can't say I'm familiar with Apple Schoolwork but I am familiar with Classroom. Whenever we have a teacher say their entire class is offline, there's a checklist I have them run through:

  1. Is your iPad and student iPads on the same network? If your network doesn't allow different VLANs to pass that bonjour protocol along, teacher won't be able to see screens.
  2. What class is your teacher currently in? Depending on how you have Classroom set up with your SIS, your teacher might be in the wrong class.
  3. Have you closed out your class lately? I've had to exit a teacher's class in Classroom, hard reset their iPad, and then restart Classroom.

I've had to go outside of those rules a handful of times but it gets down into the weeds and extremely long pretty quick. Good luck!
