Looking for Books on Curriculum Design

Any recommendations for books on curriculum design that you would recommend?  I’ve been tasked with coming up with a list of books for my district.

The d.school out of Stanford has an incredible series about design. While it’s not specific to curriculum, they’re quick reads, grounded in research, and actionable. Navigating Ambiguity was one of my faves.

Great question! Here are a few to consider:

Intentional Creativity by Dan Ryder and Amy Burvall

Launch Using Design Thinking to Boost Creativity and Bring Out the Maker in Every Student by John Spencer

The Playful Classroom: The Power of Play for All Ages - Julie Jones

The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact  - By Chip and Dan Heath.

Love seeing everyone's suggestions here.

I usually default to the core "Understanding by Design" (Wiggins, McTighe) for curriculum design, but from there, it's a matter of considering which areas need more emphasis.

I always love seeing connections to neuroscience and the science of how we learn, so Upgrade Your Teaching: Understanding by Design Meets Neuroscience by Jay McTighe and Judy Willis is a nice extension.

Books on UDL (like Katie Novak's UDL Now!) come to mind, too.

Hi Brian

I have just discovered this new book about curriculum design with AI which I am finding very helpful: elevating-educational-design by Caitlin Tucker and Katie Novak. Hope this helps!
