How to Block Copilot AI in Mosyle and GoGuardian

We recently ran into a tricky issue blocking Microsoft's Copilot AI, and I wanted to share our solution in case it helps anyone else.

Even with Copilot blocked in our GoGuardian filters, we discovered that it was still accessible. After some digging, we learned this is due to a hard-coded exception in GoGuardian, likely because many schools use Microsoft products. GoGuardian was unable to provide a fix for this on their end.

Our workaround involved using Mosyle's Webfilter in addition to GoGuardian. Here's what we did:

In Mosyle, navigate to your Webfilter (Content Filter) settings.

Choose the Built-in: Limit Adult Content filter type.

Add copilot.microsoft.com to the Always Blocked Domains list.

This setup successfully blocked Copilot for us, while still allowing access to other approved AI tools we provide for educational use.

I hope this helps anyone who is struggling to get this specific site blocked. If you have any other tips or have found a different solution, please share!
