Keynote - News Broadcast Template

Each year our Year 1 teachers ask me to help record videos of their students presenting about an animal that they’ve researched. This year they wanted it to look more like a news broadcast than a nature documentary.

I puzzled for some time about the easiest way to do this and eventually (as always) it was Keynote to the rescue.

I quickly built the newsy-looking graphics using shapes, and inserted placeholders for the feature image and the students’ videos. Students just need to use the placeholders to add a photo and a video, and then export the presentation as a movie.

Additionally students can duplicate the slide as many times as they need and add new presenters. Doing this we ended up with a very simple process for creating a class news broadcast with each student contributing their own story.

I’ve attached templates for 3:4 and 16:9, but you can probably improve on my graphics.

Enjoy.
