Math Dictionary

This simple Math Dictionary is a scaffold, created in KeyNote, where students are challenged to display their knowledge of math terms with language as well as visual materials. The scaffold provides opportunity to define a mathematical term in their own words (they can use text or voice tools) and provide their own examples of the concept or term using images, screen recording or video.  

Because students can build on their multi-modal maths dictionary over time, it can become a visible learning tool to assist in reflection and study. This approach promotes the exploration of numeracy concepts beyond traditional algorithmic problem practice. The use of technology helps students to build meaning and understanding of new vocabulary and what can be complex mathematic terms. 

There are two options to choose from where students can either create a unique animation to consolidate their knowledge of the mathematical term or reflect on their understanding of the concept by using voice or text tools.

Simply download a copy and AirDrop to your students to get started. With the Keynote template you can easily duplicate slides allowing you to introduce new terms and concepts over a unit or work.
