Podcasting for Teachers by Teachers

Back in December, I started a Digital Learning "podcast" on my campus where teachers can discuss and share some of their favorite digital tools, resources, and strategies. We've found it helpful for cross-curricular discussions since different content and grade-level teams don't always have the opportunity to easily collaborate. Plus, it's easy for teachers to just listen to during their planning period while they work on lesson plans.

A few of the participating teachers have also expressed that they are more willing/comfortable just recording a conversation rather than presenting in front of others or being on video, so that has helped encourage a few of them to share in what might feel like a safer space for them! We'll have 6 episodes up so far by the end of the week and with a new one every other Friday. Here's an example of an episode: https://youtu.be/hfo4f1d_mxU

GarageBand, iMovie, and YouTube make it easy to record, upload, and share episodes. The video below shows a quick screen recording run-through of the process I use.

There's a lot more I could say on why this podcast is one of my absolute FAVORITE things I've worked on this year, but I'll keep it to two. 1. teachers are sharing and trying new things and I'm really just a facilitator; and 2. it's fun!!

Thank you for sharing. Podcasting is a great way to share ideas. I just starting publishing my own podcast as well just using GarageBand on the iPad. It is a lot of fun.

Love this idea! I agree with you that the podcast format is a great way for teachers to "learn on the go" by listening during their planning period. I love to listen to a podcast episode during a quick walk. It helps my brain process and think of ways to apply what I'm learning. Loved the student voice in the episode you shared!

I absolutely love your video on Keynote Live Split Screen. A simple in and out demo which has given me some inspiration for my future videos and podcasts.

Thanks for this and keep up the great work.
