Educators, we have a story to tell…one for the “history books”
The Library of Congress American Folk Life Center and StoryCorps have a call out to participate in the Covid 19 American History project. One aspect of that project encourages the public (13 yrs +) to share stories with StoryCorps to be archived at the American Folklife Center. The goal is to preserve those voices so future generations can understand individual experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
And what incredible stories we have to tell as teachers, education staff and school site leaders!
This is a great opportunity to either use the StoryCorps App on your iPad or iPhone to record directly, or use GarageBand or Voice Memos and upload your interviews to archive.StoryCorps.org.
Three years ago when the pandemic arrived, many history and news organizations referenced the primary sources of the Flu Pandemic of 1918. Here is our chance to make sure the Library of Congress has the educators’ voice on the recent pandemic experience. The challenge to, and subsequent resilience of educators was certainly one for the “history books.”

That’s great - these will be wonderful stories for your son to look back on and reflect - “The Pandemic Years”. 😊 His experiences in this period of our history will be important for future generations to understand.

What a great opportunity, Cheryl! I'm sure many educators have stories to tell about their pandemic experiences. I always love hearing the StoryCorps stories on NPR, but I've never considered creating one myself!
