Federalism: The Good, the Bad, and the Fun(?!)

Original Lesson: I created a Peardeck for this lesson that was clunky and too much information.

What I Changed: I created a keynote presentation that included parts of my original lesson, but narrowed the focus down to only include some KEY parts (see what I did there?). Then, I used Apple Classroom to help facilitate the lesson. I airdropped the presentation to students so they could flip through it at their leisure. I started class with an inquiry question and asked students to think about what they have control over in their own life to help them figure out what federalism is about. Students used keynote to fill out a slide and present it to the class.

Impact: I think this was a great lesson to help students understand federalism from a perspective that matters to them. It was a fun lesson that got students talking about things they did and did not have control over in their own lives. We had a fun class discussion, and I heard from students who normally didn't speak in large group discussions. #d214

Really appreciate the way your Keynote slides scaffold students' understanding of the topic AND model what they're learning about through their expression of the content. I can see how you could have used Peardeck for this as well but had additional options for creativity and interaction by moving the lesson into Keynote. This is a great example of how many tech tools can achieve similar outcomes, and teachers must critically assess which tool is best for a given learning task.
