A Day In The Life Of An iPad

Documentation and storytelling is fun, right?

This is a story in images of the ways my iPad is used during a normal day ‘on the job’ as a music professor at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a 1-to-1 Apple Distinguished School. All of these images were captured last Friday, trying to not to include identifiable images of my students in any of the images. I invite (maybe challenge?) my wonderful AppleEDU colleagues here to share your stories as well. 😀

Here are the descriptions of the images:

1. Captured during a music composition lesson, one of my composition students uses Flat.io for his composition work. 
2. Trumpet students use ForScore on their iPads to read music in lessons.
3. I keep notes for each trumpet lesson using Notes, collaborating with each student on that document.
4. An Orchestration student stopped by during office hours for some help on his brass quintet using StaffPad.
5. A composition student is working on doing some recording. We found the perfect tempo and discussed adding some effects to the vocal track.
6. Ready to start my Everyone Can Create Music with iPad class from my home teaching studio. Today, we’re kicking off our brief unit on Live Loops.
7. Walking our music majors through our digital portfolio development process in Music Portfolio 101.
8. Faculty meeting time and note taking with Notability.
9. Presenting at the CKI meeting on an upcoming outreach event.
10. My personal practice time with Split Screen ForScore and Tonal Energy Tuner. I used the new Shortcut I picked up from Apple Professional Learning, getting it all set up by saying “Hey Siri, let’s practice!” Voila!
11. Using iPad as a mixing board with Logic Remote in my home studio for a recording project. 
12. Kicking back at the end of the day to work on an upcoming presentation in Keynote.
