Every presentation starts with a theme — a coordinated set of fonts, colors, and slide layouts with placeholders for text and images. Introduce topics with Title slides, use bullets to summarize ideas, and tell immersive stories with full‑screen photos.
Create a new presentation. In Keynote, choose File , New.
Pick a theme that matches the tone and style of your presentation. Click to select the theme, then click Create.
Replace placeholder text. Double‑click the placeholder text, then type your own.
Add a new slide. Click Add Slide in the toolbar and choose a slide layout that includes an image.
Replace a placeholder image. Click the Media Placeholder button in the bottom-right corner of a placeholder image, then choose a photo from your library.
Reorder slides. Click and hold a slide thumbnail until it appears to lift up, then drag it to a new location. Control‑click the slide thumbnail for more options, such as Delete.
Use a quote slide to take a closer look at passages of text. Explore a poem, key points in a historic speech, or articles of legislation line by line.
Keep learners focused on main ideas. Design a presentation that uses title slides with short, simple statements of five words or less.
Change the layout of a slide by choosing a different option from the Slide Layout menu. Try changing the layout of a slide and see how it affects the presentation of your content.
