Have your subject stand in front of the background, posing in a way that conveys their personality or an expression.

Tip

Depending on how your subject wants to pose or how you’ll be using the portrait later, you can photograph in either landscape or portrait orientation.

Step 4

Tap Live Photos to turn it off.

Step 5

Step closer or farther to frame your portrait the way you want it, but leave space around your subject.

Step 6

Change the focus and exposure by tapping where you want to move the focus area.

Step 7

Adjust the exposure by dragging your finger up to brighten or down to darken.

Tip

To lock your manual focus and exposure for upcoming shots, touch and hold the focus area until you see AE/AF Lock.

Step 8

Tap the Shutter button.

Step 9

Take multiple photos with various poses, expressions, perspectives, or styles.
