Exoplanet Travel Insta Posts

This activity uses a Keynote template (thanks @natalie32 for the template!) for students to create a fake instagram account for the exoplanet of their choosing. The goal is for them to internalize the planet data and extrapolate it into a post convincing people to visit, or to stay away!

For example, if the orbital period of the planet is 5.3 days (compared to Earth's 365 days), they might say "come live here and have a birthday every 5 days!" The activity is engaging and immediately shows me if they understand the data provided and how that would translate to life on Earth.

I used to just have students make a travel brochure for their exoplanet, but now I will take their exported movie file and actually share it with appropriate hashtags on my classroom instagram account for the greater exoplanet world to see. Super fun!

Yes, super fun! You’ve added an upscale level of engagement to your planetary travel guides. Students will love it! Thanks for the share.

Thanks! They do get excited about it and engage much more deeply than my former assignment allowed.
