Preparing for Family Information Sessions

Running family sessions for your school community might seem like a daunting or even intimidating task. Recently, @julianz (Julia Parker) and I hosted a series of webinars not only to support schools in their preparation but also to showcase the incredible potential of the iPad in personalising each child's learning journey. We also created an invaluable resource that will allow you to deliver these sessions effectively within your school’s context.

It was a pleasure to host these online sessions with Julia.

These events were designed to prepare school leaders to host family information sessions and share best practice for device setup within a BYOD or family-managed device environment.

We provided guidance on how to:

  • Demonstrate device and Apple ID setup
  • Showcase parental controls and communication safety tools
  • Demonstrated how to use ‘Focus’ to support digital well-being
  • Share built-in accessibility features to personalise learning

We also gave you a couple of tips for how to organise the session and inspire your parent community.

We have created a template Keynote which you can download below and customise for your own event.

If you’d like any support on running your own session, or support with your overall program, reach out to us and we’d be happy to help.

Thank you for sharing this resource Coby, I know of a few schools that have a similar set up although most are now moving towards managed apple ID's/
