Unfortunately, our school district does not do enough in supporting new teachers (in my opinion). Tragically, we are often given the keys to the room and a class list. Luckily we have pockets of teachers that support the new teachers, but nothing like what you are doing. It is such a great idea.

Is this the first time your district is having this event? or have you had it in the past?

This GoShareMO Connect event is actually a monthly webinar hosted by a a committee of Missouri educators from across the state. This event specifically happened to focus on one our committee schools and how they onboard new teachers in hopes of sharing and inspiring others.

I think there is always so much to share with new teachers that having a systematic way of introducing new tools and how they can impact their classroom is essential. Becky Barnhill and the Knox County R-1 School district do an amazing job at building that community within their district.

I developed the curriculum for 1st and 2nd year teachers and it runs all year long. So they are supported for two whole years.
