Figurative Language Numbers Activity

I created this for a figurative language lesson for grades 3-5 since it seems to be a trouble spot for many of our students. Students would search for examples of each of the types of figurative language, then represent it visually and explain why an author would use that form of figurative language in their writing. For younger students I might give them the example and ask them to do the visual representation. I could also modify it by adding the visual representation and ask them to come up with the example.

For my example of a metaphor, I used the phrase "life is a roller coaster," then I found a picture of a roller coaster and used Markup to add things that people go through in life such as buying a house or getting a job.

I'd love to improve my lesson, so if you can think of anything I can add please let me know!

I similarly use Numbers with my students, but I like your idea of using it for figurative language. Thanks for sharing your template.

Numbers is such a great app.

I agree! I don't use it enough for sure. Thanks for your reply!
