Hi everyone.
Are you challenged with helping your teaching teams go beyond the interactive apps on their iPads and Macs? Here's one of my 'go-to' methods for shifting teacher practice.
One of my favourite resources to help teachers plan engaging lessons using tech is this 'Four Modes of Learning' planning template. I first show teachers how these four different modes, 'Consuming, Interacting, Creating, and Collaborating,' can be touched on in any learning experience with examples shown in the template. Each mode is an opportunity to engage digital tools at various levels and can be engaged in any order.
This template helps teachers think through the progression of the lesson and how each mode can be engaged. The last step is to integrate the right app and tool at each stage and a brief explanation of the teaching and learning process.
This is a great way to create lessons for your colleagues who may not be great at 'joining the dots' between the opportunities in apps with the modes of learning. It's also effective for helping teachers bridge the barrier from Consuming and Interacting to Creating and Collaborating.
You can download the Keynote template, read through some of the examples and use the template slides to design engaging lessons! If you've got any questions about the Modes of Learning, let me know.
