Listen and Build a Scene - Guided Listening Lessons for Early Learners

These guided listening lessons assist early learners, including English language learners, with listening and manipulating objects on iPads. By using active listening skills, adding and moving objects to the page, and recording an audio description your students will build confidence using iPad’s Page’s features while improving in their language skills.

Download the Listen and Build Book below to share with students using Apple Classroom.

Prior to using the book with early learners teachers should model how to search the shapes library, select an object and change its color and size. As well as how to create an audio recording in the media tab.

The steps to using this book are simple! The Pages book titled “Listen and Build” contains a simple background scene on each page. Students tap the audio recording at the top of the page to hear a recorded story from the teacher. After listening to the story students locate the shapes and objects heard in the story in the shapes library and add them to the background scene. Students are challenged to place and alter the objects in the scene to match the descriptions and positional words heard in the story. Students then create their own audio recording describing the story they built.

Really fun learning activity Katie! - Love the book - beautiful! Super way to focus on listening skills and a great way to assess those skills with the building activity.
