In our Apple Professional Learning Live session, we discovered the latest tools, features, and resources for education, including Apple Intelligence, Writing Tools, Image Playground, and more to support productivity and collaboration.
Here’s a recap on each of the experiences and some resources for you to take your learning further.
Rewrite, Summarise and Organise Text with Writing Tools
With Apple Intelligence, you can use Writing Tools to proofread your work, create different versions of the same text to help you find the right wording and tone, summarise selected text and compose content from scratch. Writing Tools are available in most places you write, including third-party apps and websites.
Step 1
Open the Notes app and record audio.
Step 2
Select the audio recording and tap Transcript.
Step 3
Tap the recording, then tap Summary.
Step 4
Select the text and open Writing Tools and select List.
Step 5
Select the text, Open Writing Tools and select Table.
Create Images with Image Playground
Learn how Image Playground uses Apple Intelligence to combine concepts, text descriptions and even people from your photo library to create stylised images within seconds. These can also be created directly within apps such as Messages, Notes, Freeform, Pages, Keynote, and even some third-party apps.
Step 1
Open Image Playground app and tap .
Step 2
Create an image and save it to your gallery.
Step 3
Tap your image, then tap Edit.
Step 4
Open Keynote and add the image to a presentation.
Remove Distractions with Clean Up
With Apple Intelligence, you can find just about anything in the photos and videos you capture, and you can focus on the most important parts of your photos by using the Clean Up to remove distractions objects in the background of photos.
Step 1
Open Photos. Search for specific photos or videos.
Step 2
Select a photo, click Edit, then click Clean Up in the toolbar to remove an object.
Step 3
Click, brush or circle what you want to remove.
Note: If you brush over a person’s face, the face may become blurred with a pixelated effect.
Step 4
When you’re finished, click Done.
Reduce Interruptions with Focus
Apple Intelligence can help educators to prioritise their notifications, the Reduce Interruptions Focus understands the content of your notifications and shows you the most important ones and silences those that are less important. You can customise a Reduced Interruptions Focus the same way you would any other Focus. Any notification you specifically allow or silence will always be allowed or silenced.
Step 1
Access Control Center to turn on Reduce Interruptions.
Step 2
Go into Settings to further customise this.
Chat GPT with Apple Intelligence on Mac
Apple has integrated ChatGPT from OpenAI into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia experiences. With Siri and Writing Tools, users can draw on ChatGPT’s knowledge and expertise without needing to jump between tools. Siri can get you answers from ChatGPT when it thinks that might be helpful, and you can compose text from scratch within Writing Tools.
