I love the use of modeling when beginning cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and other biological processes. In this short single day lesson I introduce the molecular make up of ATP. In the past students understand the importance of ATP due to the repetition of the name, but they struggle understanding the function or makeup of the molecule. So I put this lesson together to inform them of the makeup of the nucleotide and the basic release of energy. They take their models and then use them as they work through a brief blooket review and an annotation exercise on a short scientific reading about ATP and its’ relation to our previous unit cellular transportation!
