This resource was created for students to use Indi robots to practice spelling words! Use letter tiles that coordinate with the Indi colored tiles to code and drive a robot through your spelling words. The Canva template has the official Indi tile colors to make it easier for younger students to identify the Indi tiles that match their spelling letters. There is a video sample of the activity within the Canva template.

Setup (Before Starting)-
Prepare Letter Tiles: Print letter tiles for your specific word list using the Canva template above (or write letters on colored cardstock following this color key):
- Beginning Letters (First Letter): Green tiles
- Middle Letters: Yellow, Pink, Blue, Teal, or Orange tiles
- Ending Letters (Last Letter): Red or Purple tiles
Student Instructions
- Pick a Word: Choose a word from your spelling list.
- Build the Word: Place your color-coded letter tiles on the matching Indi tiles on the floor to spell your word.
- Check the Path: Remember - If you use a turn or diagonal tile, you need to move the next tile after it so that Indi will still drive over it! Don't forget an end tile so Indi will stop at the end of your word!
- Pull the Letters: Once your letters and tiles make the word and the path for Indi, take the letters off the colored tiles to see if you can drive your word.
- Drive & Read: Place Indi on the green tile and press start! As Indi drives over each tile:
- Option A: Say each letter out loud to practice spelling the word.
- Option B: Say each letter sound out loud to practice blending.
