Inspirational Apple Learning Coach Meet-Up

I attended an Apple Learning Coach Meet-Up this evening. For the sake of privacy, I will refer to this teacher as "E." Well, E told a story of experiences she'd had with her students and with her colleagues after she'd earned her Apple Learning Coach certification. Her tone seemed a little unsure of her practice but all I heard was the success of what she'd done! She successfully got her students to use Keynote to learn math and got them to enjoy the teaching and learning experience. She gathered teachers into a room to explore what they could or might do with Keynote by telling them how she used it. They felt safe in the space she created for them and they explored! Now, getting teachers to explore a new technology tool (well, new to them because they are used to Windows and Google and pretty hard-core about it) is a success story. Doing that is like trying to give a cat a bath. In that visual, can you imagine the sounds coming from the cat and see the scratching and push-back happening when teachers don't want interference in their process? Yeah, well, it happens. No need to sugarcoat it. Well, not only did E's colleagues feel safe enough to explore, they enjoyed their experience and asked what was on the agenda for next time!

All that to say, E's coaching delivery was spot-on to get her students and colleagues to try something different and then want to carry on with it. Her delivery in telling her story needn't be doubtful but inspirational. She turned "Staycationers" into potential frequent flyers. Good job, E! I hope you add these experiences to your Apple Teacher Portfolio.
