Design a Simple Machine with Shapes

Design a Bird with Shapes was a wonderful example of using constraints to spark imagination. After completing this activity I challenged the 4th graders to use Keynote to design a simple Rube Goldberg type machine. The Keynote limited their choices and began their conversation on simple machines and energy.

After this activity students started creating their unique machines. The Keynote file created that perfect first step! Students exported their example as a GIF.

Karen! Love this! Thank you for sharing! Please tell me what animations were used in the gif example above?! :) We hope to cover a similar unit next term so this would be a fun activity to complete!
