At the recent FOLSEA conference (run by ADEs Emily Jones and Dr Jessica Hale) held at the magnificent Harrow International School campus, I shared my experiences in two keynote speeches on the implementation of the Story Coach AI application and my book titled “If I Were a Wizard.” In these Keynotes, I provided insights into the origins of my ideas, the actions I took to bring them to fruition, the challenges I encountered, and the significance of cultivating a sense of “high agency.”
Furthermore, I discussed the human element in creativity, emphasising the perspective, intuition, and lived experience that individuals possess and contribute to the creative process. While AI can assist in eliminating uncertainties, it is our humanity that imbues the work with meaning.
My presentation appeared to resonate with the audience, potentially because my journey mirrored their own experiences or feelings. Many individuals were at a juncture on their creative journey, particularly during the high-agency phase. The apprehension of presenting an idea before achieving perfection is a valid concern. However, procrastination stands as an adversary to innovation.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Apple Teachers, ADE's and Apple Learning Coaches whose insights and contributions added immense value to the discussions. Their engagement highlighted the synergy between educational innovation and technology, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of learning and exchange.
