Title: The Day My Class Stopped Thinking AI Was Magic

I’ll be honest – when I started Chapter 1 on the AI Project Lifecycle, my students thought AI was either sci-fi or some kind of magic trick. So I ditched the textbook definition and said, “Alright, let’s catch spam emails together. "We started simple. What’s the problem? Too much junk mail. Then we got messy – collecting real emails, labeling them, arguing over whether “You won 1 crore!” was spam or not. The kids loved it. The real shift happened when we tested our little model. 8 out of 10 correct. Someone yelled, “Miss, it’s still wrong 2 times!” Exactly. That’s where learning happens. We went back, added more examples, tweaked the rules, and hit 9 out of 10.I saw it in their faces – that moment when “AI” stopped being a buzzword and became something they could actually build and improve. No magic, just data, testing, and a lot of trial and error. That’s the power of the AI Project Lifecycle. And honestly, it reminded me why I teach.
