Culture Is Currency | The National STEAM Innovation Challenge

Innovation doesn’t belong to a select few. It belongs to YOU, the people. 

We are pleased to introduce Culture Is Currency, the new national STEAM Innovation Challenge, created by the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub at Cal State University, Northridge with Apple as a Foundational Partner. It invites students to take what they already know and care about as assets for innovation—and turn it into something meaningful.

Grounded in Apple’s Challenge-Based Learning Framework: Engage → Investigate → Act

College students, recent graduates, K-12 students, and eligible adult learners are invited to engage by exploring real world questions, to investigate by researching the problem, and to act by building the solution. 

Learners might build a side-hustle idea, create a digital story, explore a technology solution, develop a financial empowerment project, or design something that strengthens our communities.

The Challenge encourages participants to utilize technological innovation for their projects through Apple’s robust ecosystem (Numbers, Pages, GarageBand, iMovie, etc.)

For our Learners: You do not need a finished idea to start.

Start where you are. Build from what you know. Create what matters.

Whether you’re someone who wants to submit an idea, an industry professional who wants to partner, or an influencer who wants to help us amplify, the Challenge has a role for everyone!
