In order to impact teaching and learning, professional development needs to provide learners with options. It should allow learners to choose paths that offer an opportunity for personalization, and it should have some type of tiered system in order to accommodate all ability levels. In addition, learners should be provided with access to self-paced PD where learning can be done at an individual‘s own time and needs. Of course, with these options learners should be required to complete a set number of professional learning hours, and so there should be a reasonable time frame in order that folks keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
