How do we effectively teach digital citizenship in schools? What challenges do educators face in preparing young people to navigate the online world safely and responsibly? These are questions that resonate with educators worldwide, and I’d love to start a conversation about how digital citizenship is taught in your country or school. What strategies have worked for you? What obstacles have you encountered?
When I have seen it done well, it is in the terms and development level for the child they are addressing.. Common Sense Media has a nice curriculum that does this.. They have a landing page https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship That let's you plan activities by picking grade level.
When connect Ed was happening, Arthur Elementary (in OKC) spent about 2 weeks going through this curriculum to become a Common Sense Media certified school. I think it was time well spent, because they dealt with the issues of digital citizenship before students had really engaged with the technology yet.. As with all things, it makes sense to discuss expectations before there is a problem. Maybe this resource would be helpful to the discussion.. (Not sure how applicable it is to world wide)

This is something my district is giving more attention to as of late. We have several big questions that we are toying with right now: Who or where is this taught? What should be the focus areas? Should it be "taught" or just integrated into normal everyday use of technology?
We are currently reading the book by Richard Culleta called Digital for Good. It is definitely more from the parent perspective, but has some parts that can be applied to school as well.
