Encouraging Teachers to Explore the Apple Education Community

I consider myself so lucky to be working in an iPad school. We're 1-1 from Year 4 onwards and our younger years have 1 iPad for every 2 or 3 students. What a joy to have such an opportunity to work and grow within this environment!

This year I'm leading a Digital Coaching team and one of our goals is to encourage and support our learners (including our teachers) to use the Apple suite of tools more creatively and authentically.

We have realised early on that not many of our teachers know about the Apple Education Community, nor all the amazing resources within it. So we decided that for our first staff meeting we'd begin with that being our focus.

We know that just like our students, our teachers don't all learn the same either - and 75 minutes is definitely not long enough to explore all the treasures the Education Community holds.

Our solution - use Pages to create a scavenger hunt that leads them to different sections within the Education Community while also modelling how an Apple tool could be used as a portfolio to capture what they discover.

They can choose to work through the tasks in any order they like. They can also choose to work by themselves or with someone else. And best of all, they take it away with them and can continue in their own time.

The Pages document is attached. Feel free to downlaod it, tweak it for yourself or your staff and have some fun exploring the Apple Education Community.

Thanks so much for sharing this fun scavenger hunt to help educators explore the new Apple Education Community! They certainly will find in the Community a tremendous amount of resources, lots of variety and diversity of content. And they can share their own fantastic resources. Collaboration at it’s best. Thanks for providing a path!

Really love this template and excited to do something similar with faculty in the iPad 1:1 in our College of Education. This is a great way to encourage exploration in the Learning Center and Forum. Thank you for sharing!
