Animated Paragraphs

Hi all!

I am an English Literature teacher and have been working on analytical writing with my Year 7 students. We are working within the acronym of 'TEEEL' as that is what most of them were familiar with from Primary school. In an attempt to engage the students more, I swapped out the standard "highlight the different parts of the paragraph in your book" lesson and got them to create animated paragraphs. The students had to write a paragraph, highlight and explain the purpose of each section of the paragraph and animate their annotations.

My students loved this and were showing off their paragraphs to each other. They even ended up having more in-depth conversations with each other about the structure and word choice in their paragraphs because they wanted to be proud of the final product.

I have attached the example that I did with the class before they went off on their own.

I found that this was a great lesson to engage them in analytical writing while building their KeyNote skills.

So creative! What a good idea. I can see why this is so engaging to students. Fun to write and fun to share! Thanks!
