Sketchnoting - Resources and Examples from ADE 2023 Americas
Ten years ago I was introduced to sketchnotes at the ADE 2013 Institute in Austin when new ADE Brad Overall-Carter started posting his sketchnotes of sessions on social media. I was immediately fascinated how this single visual picture could capture the essence of a what was being shared.
When I returned home, I decided to see if I could learn how to create sketchnotes on my iPad. Over the past 10 years I have sketched books, conferences, videos, podcasts, and even sermons! I have planned lessons and created resources to teach students how to do sketchnotes and have lead many teacher workshops on this strategy. It was a thrill last week to lead a sketchnote workshop for my ADE 2023 friends and see many people try the strategy for the first time. I always find new inspiration by looking at the sketchnotes that others have created.
Here is a link to the resources that I shared during the workshop. It includes an extended version of my slidedeck: https://sites.google.com/view/creativeapptitude/sketchnotes?authuser=0
I enjoyed making sketchnotes from many of the wonderful sessions while we were in Dallas. Here are a few of them:
I'm looking forward to seeing more sketchnotes from the upcoming ADE EMEIA conference! Please share!

I love the way your sketchnotes tell a story, Karen! Seeing the Institute captured in these colorful scribbles and notes is such a treat. You have the gift of design and communication!
Thanks so much, Cheryl. I really love having them as a way to document the conference.
