Coaching Cycle in Math

I use to feel that using technology was not efficient and would have taken too much time for me to use and do my lessons.

Now, I know it is very beneficial and helps me to work smarter not harder.

I am a Math Teacher at John Marshall School of Information Technology.

The lesson was on analyzing charts and graphs and we used screen recording with audio as the students annotated a PDF.

I was very surprised to learn that the students were familiar with some of the tools already. Even though the lesson did not go as planned, I know this lesson will be beneficial to use for one as an assessment to gain insight of how students are processing information for understanding.

I know I have to become more familiar with the different tools and the device to be able to incorporate engaging lessons for the students.

I recently saw a post that said, "Most math problems assume that computers don't exist." I wonder if that is why technology is sometimes cumbersome in the math room. Maybe the questions need to be adjusted or changed to really harness the power of technology for the teaching of math. I love your insight here!
