As far as I am aware, Swift Playgrounds doesn't require individual Apple IDs, unless you wanted to upload them to the App Store (which would require a developer account anyway). If the devices are being shared, you would just have the issue of students' playgrounds being saved locally on the devices.
I imagine it's out of your hands, but Apple's Shared iPad might be of interest?
I am wanting to use Playgrounds with all my students 150+ who will share a class set of 35 iPads. Do we need to establish Apple IDs?
