Reaching a broader audience with student essays using technololgy

Question:

Have you successfully engaged students in awareness promotion with tech tools? Students have written persuasive essays, and I’m looking for something that could reach a broader audience.

Any ideas would be welcome!

Sounds like a wonderful goal. ADE Katie Morrow did a persuasive writing Challenge Based Learning lesson and published the results as a book in the Apple Book Store “Write to Change the World: Challenge Based Learning for Persuasive Writing.”

Katie’s students wrote letters to the editor and sent them to the local Newspaper. Another idea would be to have students, with permission, author a collaborative book of persuasive essays using Pages and have you published it as an epub to the Apple Book

Cheryl shared some good suggestions below! You might also consider using the GridPals feature in Flip (formerly Flipgrid) to partner your students with another 5th grade classroom somewhere in the world. While Flip is video-based discussion, users have the option to attach a document. So they could attach their persuasive writing, "pitch" their position in their video post, and then receive feedback from an audience of peers beyond their classroom.

Love that you're looking to engage a broader audience for your students' writing!
