You can record audio directly onto any page using the built‑in microphone on Mac. Add recordings to narrate writing for young readers, to include supplementary explanations and comments, or to add music and sound effects to stories.

Add an audio recording. Click the Media button in the toolbar and choose Record Audio.
Record. Click Record . When you want to stop recording, click Stop .
Click the Preview button to listen to what you recorded.
Edit the recording. Click Edit, then drag the blue handles to define the section you want to edit. Click the Trim button to delete audio outside the handles. Click Delete Audio Selection to remove audio inside the handles. Click Done when you’re finished editing.
Position your recording on the page. Click Insert, then drag the Play Recording button to place it.
Play the recording. Click the Play Recording button to hear your recording on the page.
To share your recorded audio, Control‑click Play Recording , choose Share Recording, then choose a method to send it.
Narrate the text of an original story. Record yourself reading the text and insert the audio next to the appropriate text box or image on the page.
Use audio to reinforce a set of instructions. Record and edit audio for each step of a process.
You can enrich your documents with audio you’ve created in apps like GarageBand. Add a soundtrack to a story, a beat track to a poetry document, or international music to a foreign language lesson.
