Make your own stories with Comic Creations

As a K-5 school librarian and technology coach, I know that today's students love graphic novels and creating on their ipad. This activity combines both passions. Using their ipads, students can create their own characters and comic book stories.

This book provides information to bring comics into the classroom.  It provides step-by-step instructions to build characters and create comics. There is a download within the book for a keynote workbook. The keynote has parts to create characters, comic templates, and speech bubbles. Teachers can share the keynote with their students and (with the help from examples and instructions within the book) model how to create comics within the workbook. Students can even take their comics to the next level by adding animations!

Love this activity, Jill! So many applications are possible across content areas, and you've made it so easy for students to create with this template. Thanks for sharing the book and Keynote template with us!

This is great Jill! I’ve just downloaded and love the simplicity of these resources to get people started, through to levelling up comic creations if you want to go further. Beautifully designed as well.

Thanks for your kind words, Lisa! I intentionally made the keynote resource simple for my younger students. I live by the motto that #EveryoneCanCreate

Wow! Such a fun way for teachers to create mini-lessons or for students to demonstrate their comprehension through creativity. I am planning to be a bit experimental in my Music Appreciation course this coming semester, allowing students to demonstrate understanding through alternative assessment opportunities. I’ll share your idea and resource with them as a potential activity they could use in substitution for the standard test format.

Thanks for sharing this great resource! 😎
