Languages - Languages in KeyNote

Livie Chaix is the Junior School Languages Teacher (Year 3-5) at Scotch College, Perth, WA. Livie's technology journey with Apple products began at the end of 2022. She has used KeyNote and Classwork as her platform to begin her journey as all boys from Year 3-5 are 1:1 iPads.

Her French Monsieur Patate was a lesson planned around labelling body parts, gender and numbers. She incorporated Sketches Pro, KeyNote and Classwork.  Students designed and labelled a Mr Potato head character. As a summative assessment students were assessed through listening, speaking and writing different body parts to consolidate their learning.

Livie presented her work at a #WATechTalk event.

I love the Sketches using Mr. Potato Head! And the Keynote assessments with audio is also a brilliant way to determine language skills. Thanks for sharing Livie’s approach - nice integration of Apple tools.

I really appreciate how you shared the context in which these activities were developed. Even with little prior experience working with these tools, some meaningful activities could be developed to support language learning. Really wonderful stuff!
