Hello and welcome to Smashing Apps! This friendly conversation is a chance for educators to come together and share their top iPad tips and favourite apps with each other - and the world.
In the next forty minutes, you'll be hearing from three Apple Distinguished Educators: Sophie Lamb 🇬🇧, Kerry Abercrombie 🏴, and Sebastian Achatz 🇦🇹. They will be sharing and discussing their favourite iPad apps used in their classrooms. By the end of this conversation, my hope is that you'll be filled with a wealth of ideas to bring back to your classrooms, making a positive impact on your teaching. If something resonates with you or sparks excitement, we'd love to hear about it. The comment section below is the perfect space to exchange ideas, explore these apps, and ask any questions you may have.

What follows will be a bit of a spoiler for the video above. So, proceed with caution...
In the first conversation of this episode, Sophie shares how she and her students use Kaligo to help students develop handwriting and letter formation. After a quick overview of how Kaligo works we discuss how she uses it effectively in her school by combining both the digital and analog tools at her disposal.
If you'd like to explore Kaligo further you can download it here.
Next up we have a movie-making masterclass with Kerry who shares several of the techniques she and her students have been using to level-up their iMovie creations using Keynote. From animated title cards to clever video overlays there are a wealth of ideas here to explore in your own classroom.
If you don't have iMovie on your iPad yet you can download it for free here.
To round out this episode of Smashing Apps we have a brilliant demo of how AR Makr is bringing learning to life in Sebastian's classroom. He shares project ideas that have really excited his students as well as a really quick tutorial on how to bring in your own graphics and illustrations into the app to use in Augmented Reality.
AR Makr is a free app for iPad and is available here.
A huge than you to Sophie, Kerry, and Sebastian for generously imparting their knowledge and ideas in this episode of Smashing Apps. I hope that you found this conversation enjoyable and that it has sparked some ideas to share in your classroom.
I invite you to return next month as I'll be accompanied by three different educators who will be introducing three fresh apps. I promise it'll be a conversation you won't want to miss it!
