At the Heart of ELA

In my seventh grade ELA class my students created a Valentine's Day story using Keynote and conversation Valentine’s Day hearts candy. They created three slides and on the first slide the students were required to add animation to their images. On the second slide they added a picture of their conversation hearts and on the third slide they incorporated the sayings on the candy into their short story. My classes were able to showcase their creative writing. The impact on the student was the opportunity to personalize their learning experience by letting them use their voice and make choices.

I love the idea of keeping the writing creative. Writing to prompts from books can get tiring for students, I think your idea breaks that mold and makes it fun for students.
